MedImmune inaugurates a second manufacturing unit in Frederick

Gaithersburg-based MedImmune is said to open a second manufacturing plant in Frederick. In the official opening ceremony held on Friday, the company was joined by Frederick city and county officials.

With the opening of the new unit, production capacities of new products including Synagis, a drug preventing respiratory virus infection in high-risk children, are expected to soar. The biopharmaceutical company MedImmune, which is a subsidiary of London-based AstraZeneca PLC, said that it employed nearly 250 people in Frederick and expected to recruit more.
