GlaxoSmithKline and Pfizer Venture file a lawsuit against Teva over the patent for Epzicom
Earlier on Monday, Bloomberg reported that the infringing of a US patent by Teva for the HIV drug Epzicom has provoked GlaxoSmithKline and Pfizer’s ViiV Healthcare to file a lawsuit against the company.
According to the companies, Teva’s submission for approval of a generic version of Epzicom would “constitute infringement,” and “ViiV will be irreparably harmed” if generic versions are marketed before patent protection expires in 2016.
The lawsuit seeks a permanent ruling to restrict Teva’s sales of the generic product in the US and to compensate for damages if drug is sold.
