Both fields are going to grow in future......As per the market scene, Statisticians and SAS programmers are less in numbers and hence have more demand right now.........in CDM also you can have scope in different departments.............Data Entry dept......Data Clean Up..Database Designers and programmers.....QC group.......QA group......

Its very difficult to say which deparment is better and will grow in future more........In my opinion both will grow similarly......so more inclined you are towards any of the department you need to choose that accordingly........

others will give you their opinion on the same...

As per my knowledge ICON, ACCENTURE, COGNIZANT, PHARMANET, QUINTILES had hired freshers in the recent past (In fact in last 2 weeks). I am talking about CDM only not about other departments. However most of them might revise their approach to hire freshers because of the lack of commitment shown by few freshers. In addition, some of the CRO has already introduced the signing LEGAL BOND of heavy amount (in between 50K to 1Lakh) with the fresh candidates.

Please note currently there is demand for candidates but the supply of candidates (may be in 1000s.....thanks to Training Insts.!!!)

For other departments market status you need to check with other members.

Hi to all
I also have same question

I am new to this forum and right now working in pharma company at pune.
I have gr8 interest in CDM as it was a part of our project work during 2nd yr project in M.Pharm.
I have completed my M.Pharm in pharmacy practice (Clinical Pharmacy) from NIPER. Now I want to join clinical data management area as my first choice is statistics and this is bcz of fact i am good at maths and reasoning.
Can u please help me

Dear rkb_niper,

I am confused with your statement stating "Now I want to join clinical data management area as my first choice is statistics and this is bcz of fact i am good at maths and reasoning"

Please note that CDM and Bio-statistics are two different departments. DM deals with the data for clean up and Bio-statistics deals with the clean data for Analysis and Statistical Report!!

I am sure you might be knowing this but your statement is contradicting!!!

To join CDM as M.Pharm is not difficult but if you are planning to join Bio-statistics for Analysis then your qualification might have issue, as most of the organizations prefer degree in Statistics only for Statistical Analyst post. If you are good in programming then you can join as SAS programmer. For this post qualification as Statistics, degree is not must.

Dear RKB_niper

As I Like CDM said, statistics and data management is two different department and the work profile is also different. As you did M. Pharm, getting in to clinical trials department (as a CRA / Medical team) will be the best option. You will enjoy working there. More than that, you can utilize your knowledge there else CDM is the other best option.

Best of luck

Abhilash
